Pinkston Watersports is a one-of-a-kind force for change in Scotland, serving as an urban sports center that promotes community engagement and redevelopment while also developing sporting excellence. Pinkston is Scotland's first competition-level, purpose-built watersports facility, which debuted in the spring of 2014.
The center has something for everyone: a training facility for elite athletes on the artificial white watercourse, a venue for regular paddlesport club and open water swimming sessions, a water safety training resource for the Scottish Fire Service and Royal Life Saving Society, and a community hub where locals – whether beginners or seasoned enthusiasts – can get involved.
Embark on a luxurious voyage aboard the Waverley Excursion ship.
A wholly restored paddle steamer, the world's last sea-going paddle steamer with big, towering funnels, immaculate wood decks, brass so shiny you can see your reflection in it, and a gigantic engine that thunders to life under your feet. From a day at the beach in Devon to a trip to the lochs and islands of Scotland, the area has something for everyone.
Take in the beauties of London and the Jurassic Coast as you float down the Thames in an old-fashioned manner, with Tower Bridge opening especially for you. You'll discover a whiskey bar and a tearoom on board, so you can have a meal in elegance while soaking in the atmosphere of this gorgeous ship.
Pollok Country Park is home to a diverse range of landscapes, including yew hedges and herbaceous displays, as well as glasshouses brimming with tropical plants.
The Library Gardens include a Woodland Garden and a Woodland Trail worth visiting if you've got your wellies! Alternatively, you may travel the Food Route and see the kitchen gardens and the Demonstration Garden. The Countryside Ranger Centre, home to the playground and the orienteering course, has information on all of these neat little tidbits.
The annual Pollok Family Day features a slew of kid-friendly activities, including displays of heavy horsemanship by Baron, Duke, and Spencer. The Pollok Highland Cattle fold can also be seen, but you won't be able to go very near, so a pair of binoculars is a good idea.
